My name is Chloe Gust.
I’m convinced that where you are right now is filled with more interesting people, places, and stories than you think. I’ve spent the past decade trying to prove this point.
I’m a writer, performer, and storyteller based in Lethbridge, Alta. I’ve worked as a heritage interpreter at a coal mine, an assistant curator in the Alberta badlands, a communications officer in Ottawa, a writer/editor intern at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, and an English teacher at a senior high school in Hiroshima, Japan.
I’ve moved across the world not speaking the language, not knowing a single person, and found every time that each community holds something worth learning about, no matter how small.
That’s what everything I make is about. My podcast, The Secret Lives of Languages, explores how the languages spoken in and around Lethbridge define it’s identity. My sketch comedy explores everyday prairie life through absurdity. I write, fiction, non-fiction, newsletters, and comics to try and understand the world around me.
I believe the only thing you need to find the stories that matter is curiosity about what is in front of you. Let’s work together to find the stories that matter to you.
